The Storytellers of Rap: Playlist By Marissa Duldulao

Marissa Duldulao is an aspiring music video director and creative director from Florida who has a passion for curating music. She wanted to pay homage to hip-hop by showcasing the genre's best storytellers, and was particularly influenced by Tyler, The Creator's song "WILSHIRE". This 8-minute song gives a behind-the-scenes look into what it's like to record music that is rooted in personal experiences such as failed relationships and heartbreak.

Marissa believes that this type of authenticity is what makes rap such a powerful form of storytelling. She has curated a playlist featuring artists such as J.I.D., Kendrick Lamar, Westside Gunn, SwaVay, and Joey Basa$$, as well as New York-based artists Ceddyjay, Indigo General, and Bekim, who all focus on topics such as family, relationships, youth, race and other issues within our current society.
